In "if you couldn't see me", I explore the paradox of presence and erasure - what it means to be seen, remembered, and understood through the fragmented lenses of memory and machine. Inspired by Trisha Brown’s solo dance piece of the same name, where the dancer deliberately turns away from the audience, this work resists the gaze, offering a female figure in flux: turned inward, blurred, abstracted.
Created using AI tools, the work reimagines an image from my earlier post-photography series 'Artificial Childhood Memories', which itself used AI to reconstruct my imperfect, ephemeral recollections of the past: it is an abstraction of an artificial memory. In "if you couldn't see me" the body appears and disappears within the frame, echoing the ways that memory - especially one mediated by technology - both reveals and conceals.
