This image "Horses" is second in the series titled: Solidarity (see collection description). I created it while contemplating and reflecting on events leading up to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, along with the implicit visceral threat of World War.
"Horses" incorporates common influences in my art and design process, including: cubism and futurism (think Duchamp’s Nude Descending a Staircase); the dense all-over-images of abstract expression (like Pollack); and even the churning, energetic music and lyrics of Patti Smith’s debut album "Horses" and it's single "Land: Horses / Land of a Thousand Dances / La Mer(de)" (Thank you, Kanene Weston, for seeing the horses). All of these elements, and other personal influences, combine to express the raw potential and dynamics of unbridled energy, embodied within a herd of horses.
