Hoard

A Northern Crab Spider is perched on a plump thorn-less Black Satin Raspberry, awaiting the chance encounter with a hungry insect to devour. Guarding this food source allows the spider to easily hunt for prey that comes to the ripe flesh to feed. (Mecaphesa asperata - Rubus fruticosus)

2020. Nikon D3500, 55-200mm Lens + 68mm Extension Tube.

Photographed in situ, without the use of artificial lighting or staging. Photoshop only used for resizing.
