‘A little boy watched the sky so far away, White cotton clouds hung in the air Tiny ones, small ones and great big ones floating, They form a ship floating here and there Now it is a growling tiger’s face, Now it is a cow, eight bodies, four legs, Now a pig, a cat, a horse, Now a fish, a turtle, a buffalo and more This is the world of the imagination, Einstein said it was important Salvador Dali agreed, And Leonardo Davinci too’ Translated from Somrak’s playful song: ‘Imagination’. I wrote this song, at the time this style was emerging in my art. Just like in life, when we know the end of the story before we read the book, or see the movie it kills some of the mystery and joy of the experience. In my painting, I keep this and mystery alive through improvisation. My paintings are not premeditated. Whilst creating, I am deeply immersed in conversation with my feelings and emotions. When I start each painting, a new adventure begins. I don’t know what the outcome will be.
