Heterozygosity by Emil

This is a digital painting created with a combination of the following: generative outputs from a custom p5.js script, analog drawings by myself and my 2-yr-old daughter, DALL-E-2 AI outputs, G'MIC filters, and Photoshop.

I ask DALL-E to create "expressive" and "gestural" marks & brush strokes, then I upscale and manipulate the outputs in Photoshop, and feed them back into the AI again, and repeat this process a number of times. I also feed the AI images of crayon drawings my daughter made, and play with the strange outputs I get back.

In my recent artwork I am drawn to the tension between real & synthetic, human & machine, young & old; and I find the AI gives me weird and exciting source material to explore these ideas. It creates new problems and helps me find new solutions.
