Heads Will Roll is YuYu’s contribution to the Deck of Hearts collection, powered by Tezos / Objkt, and presented in Paris, France, on February 13, 2025.
Reimagining the Jack of Hearts, YuYu transforms the card into an icon of power, seduction, and self-determination. This Jack is not just a courtier in waiting but a force of action, breaking free from traditional playing card symbolism. In a striking act of self-decapitation, the Jack sheds their former self—an echo of the phoenix’s rebirth, where destruction paves the way for transformation. By making the Jack both executioner and victim, YuYu challenges the card’s usual role as a servant to the King and Queen. Here, the Jack seizes control of their own fate, even if it requires sacrificing who they once were.
Blending mythology, identity, and reinvention, Heads Will Roll is a visual meditation on power, fate, and the price of self-overcoming.
