"This work engages a condition in which the indeterminate and ambiguous become perceptible—where patterns that were once undifferentiated or excessive are recognized as meaning, fixed, and emerge as events. A grid-like structure extends underfoot, across which waves flow. Order is not a stable foundation but is constantly exposed to fluctuation, drift, and indeterminacy. The mountain visible before the figure may be perceived, for someone like myself as a Japanese person, as Mount Fuji. (For others, it may appear differently.) Mount Fuji functions as a lezitimate symbol; however, this does not mean that it was necessarily or intentionally selected. This “mountain” emerged contingently as a landscape, and it is precisely this contingency that suggests one way in which AI-based image-making can operate as an artistic methodology. This presence appears as a given condition, while also existing as a form that precedes interpretation. Only when it is recognized as meaning does it fulfill the conditions necessary to constitute a work. The wave mark (〰︎) does not represent the wave itself, but indicates a state of continuous fluctuation. It suggests that such instability is not an exception but our condition, and that accepting this indeterminacy is of central importance."
