Granular Beauty focuses on highlighting and exploring granularity and parallelism in sound and visuals. In Granular Synthesis "to granulate means to segment a sound signal into grains, to possibly modify them in some way, and then to reassemble the grains in a new time order and microrhythm. This might take the form of a statistical cloud of sampled grains" - C. Roads This Neo-Impressionist homage to Salvador Dali's outstanding piece "Young woman at the Window" (Figura en una finestra) is composed by assembling 75,000 visual grains. One of the fascinating aspects about the original painting is that from the viewer perspective the main focus is not upon what can be seen through the open window, but rather the woman, whose face cannot be seen. The aim of my work is to allow an Audio/Visual immersion in the complexity of particles floating and co-existing within a sonic grain cloud.
