"Where do you get your ideas??" This is probably the question I hear most as an artist and it's the hardest one to answer. I wish I knew. Sometimes I get ideas by playing around with my software and learning a cool trick. Sometimes I get them taking my daily walk or even going through the aisles of the grocery store (it's happened!).
This summer I picked up a PS4 game I'd been meaning to play called "Ghost of Tsushima". I was intending to take a break from art and lose myself in samurai-era Japan. One of the early game areas however was this amazing autumn wood called the "Golden Forest" and when I saw it I knew I wanted to recreate the light coming through those beautiful leaves.
I put my controller away and created this scene using Vue d'Esprit and Plant Factory. The trees are actually the same species that I designed for "Philomath" but it added foliage.
I've since created winter, spring and summer versions of this scene but haven't played any Ghost of Tsushima.😭
