I captured this photo myself on one of those rare mornings when nature seems to breathe, and its voice can only be heard through light. A soft mist lay over the water, and the sunlight gently touched the back of my subject—this beautiful flamingo. It was a moment full of silence, serenity, and reverence for life... I wanted to capture it exactly the way I felt it.
I used a Canon EOS R6 camera with an RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM lens to capture this scene from a distance, yet with intimacy and depth. The technique I used is called backlight photography, where light shines from behind the subject, softening the boundaries between reality and dream. To make the feathers glow and the background melt into a dreamy blur, I shot with a wide aperture (f/5.6) and carefully focused on the flamingo's eye.
To me, this photo isn’t just a flamingo... it's a moment—one of those moments when nature smiles gently, and everything else fades away.
