With the "Let's play lettering" project, play, graphic composition and abstraction are simultaneously declined.
The project takes shape from personal research and belief that typefaces are extraordinary masterpieces of form and design, capable of generating graphic compositions beyond words. In particular, I chose the Subway Ticker font.
The game consists of creating graphic compositions in a square field, employing the 27 letters of the alphabet provided, and 2 to 9 players are allowed. Players will be given the letters and must choose a color from a proposal of 9 different shades. The player with the letter "a" will start, placing it in the field (a modular grid to appropriately place the letters). He will be followed by the player with the letter "b" who will be forced to position his letter so that it shares at least one side of its component pixels with the component pixels of the letter "a". The game continues in this manner until the alphabet is finished. Letters with the same color cannot be juxtaposed, and letters can only be rotated 90 degrees in either direction.
In conclusion, Lettering is a creative game with no winners or prizes; some compositions will turn out more interesting than others, depending on the players' choices, which provides an educational opportunity to enhance the creation of graphic compositions and abstraction skills.
