Billowing ghosts Haunt neglected spaces The delusion is fraught With divisions of now and then
The billowy texture on the surface of the Split Gill is dampened by a gentle rain. (Schizophyllum commune)
The Autumn is the time of year to grieve the dead, to grieve for change and to prepare to rest. The bodies reduced to skeletons, the flesh falls away. The scavengers will come - the detritivores - who will turn the flesh back to earth. The cycles in nature are persistent, and we must prepare for our next hibernation. This series celebrates another cycle, and explores the signals for the coming winter.
