Standing tall and proud on blocks in an Arkanes shipyard, the mostly wooden fishing ship “Höfrungur AK 91” endures the elements. Her glory days of generating income and sustenance to the Western Region of Iceland are now all but a memory. Part of the three-piece genesis series “Of Ships and Clouds”, this 1/1 piece by Trent North is an original infrared photo captured in the 590 nm wavelength spectrum and finished in false-color. Ghost Ship is part of a larger body of work themed: “Alternate Chromaticity” which depicts various ethereal scenes from around the world captured in infrared and finished in a false-color scheme. Included in the sale for the first collector is a brief ship information sheet (in PDF format) noting the origin, some past history from the archives of Iceland, and photos of Höfrungur AK 91 from the same session in the normal visible light spectrum.
