FX, in this work context, has at least two significant meanings. The effect of cultural perception, and the exchange interplay of fine art & NFTs.
The art world is experiencing tension between traditional fine art and the rise of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Fine art is often valued for its tangible qualities whereas NFTs use blockchain technology to digitize and authenticate ownership of art. The art world is grappling with the question of whether NFTs can truly be considered fine art and whether they have a place in the traditional art world. Some view NFTs as a way to democratize the art market and make it more accessible, while others argue that they lack the traditional qualities that define fine art.
The title, FX, refers to traditional money exchanges, as art is fast in this new age becoming just another commodity traded for profit, as opposed to what it arguably should be: an exploration of humanity like science and religion.
The second tension:
The veil, or hijab, is often seen as a symbol of religious piety and cultural identity for Muslim women who may see Western culture as liberal and permissive but also as lacking moral principles. This perspective may be informed by media representation of Western society, religious teachings, or personal experiences. On the other hand, Western women often view the veil as a restriction on women's freedom, a symbol of oppression and an indicator of gender inequality.
The veil can serve as a visual marker of difference between two cultures and can lead to misunderstandings and stereotypes. However, it can also be a starting point for cross-cultural dialogue and a deeper understanding of each other's beliefs, values and experiences, rather than relying on preconceived notions or stereotypes.
ARTIST BIO
VESA is an award winning digital art pioneer. He innovated his own mixed media process in 2008, and has been full-time in the crypto art and NFT space since 2017. He is considered to be a leading early artist building the metaverse and NFT expansion, being among the first to enter in the earliest stages. In 2013, his digital art project with actress Veena Malik reached around 300 million people, with critical acclaim.
The latest venture artcar.io is seen around events in Dubai. VESA is an advisor to Sheesha Finance, Jade City, Metahistory: Museum of War & Oceans & US. He also builds with leading metaverse companies like Zoan, Blockchain Valley Virtual, Landrocker, Megaverse and Superworld, VESA is also an ambassador for the International Blockchain Association. Crypto Oasis included him in the Ecosystem report among the top 10 artists in the UAE region, and L’Officiel awarded him the top Web3 artist award.
