Aristotle first used a Greek equivalent to the Latin phrase “deus ex machina” (god from the machine) as a device to resolve the plot of tragedies. With the increasing synthesis of emerging technologies and human creative impulses, continually looking for technological solutions to human problems may lead to a contrived and undesirable ending to the human story.
