There is one legend about the White-Red-White banner.
There was a battle between Teutons and Lithuanians. And a Lithuanian prince has been severely injured in his head. But he was strong and brave so he took his blood-denched bandage, used it as a banner and led his people to the glorious victory.
Belarus people who consider themselves descendants of the people of Great Duchy of Lithuania use this flag as their national symbol.
Since the 9th of August 2020 many protesters have been wearing simple white t-shirts, without second thought, just a simple summertime clothes. Injured by police rubber bullets and stun grenades, some of them got their t-shirts covered with blood, amazingly resembling the White-Red-White flag and that legend.
Women have been playing a huge part in the protests. They participated in night rallies as well as in daytime demonstrations. On 13th august Belarus women started a flashmob, wearing white dresses or national white-and-red shirts, bearing flowers, joining hands and singing songs — to demonstrate peaceful nature of the protest movement.
Thousands people, including women, have been arrested and held in concentration camps. They have been tortured, humiliated, injured and raped by Belarusian police.
