NYC is filled with millions of people walking millions of steps and filling the interwebs with billions of perspectives on what is still the greatest city in the world.
Creating this photo was one part adventure, one part detective work, and a small part B&E. Before visiting home, I spent a few months casually looking at all the photos from #NYC hashtags. I wanted to make an iconic image that no one had photographed before. I began drawing lines from potential subjects to possible vantage points. When I drew a line from Freedom Tower to the Manhattan Bridge I knew I had a composition. The detective work began here, not only in finding a building or a window that would provide this perspective but figuring out how to get there. In the end, I simply "found my own way," to this particular vantage.
Finding that the photograph was indeed possible was a relief. When the sky lit up, I became grateful. When I returned to the street unscathed and with pixels in tow, I felt like a million bucks.
