About the series Fragments of the wind
Marc VanDermeer is an artist whose work is inspired by the past and the idea of living at the turn of the twentieth century. This fascination was first sparked by his mother, Carol Vandermier Levy, a renowned collage and assemblage artist who collected vintage postcards, letters, textures, and magazine art reproductions. Marc started his art journey as a teenager, creating anti-war collages using the Robert Rauchenberg technique of rubbing acetone onto paper to lift images from magazine clips. After a long hiatus from art, Marc returned to their creative pursuits in 2001 and participated in one of the first digital art shows in New York in 2003. They received a BFA in film from the Philadelphia College of Art in 1975, but later pursued oil painting and pastel work. In 2021, Marc started using an iPencil to create digital drawings and paintings. He has a particular interest in printing his own work, using his Epson stylus photo 3038 printer and printing on Hahnemuele photo rag. Marc’s latest collection, Fragments from a Forgotten Past, is available as both an NFT on Known Origin and a limited edition of ten on Saatchi's artist portal.
