Form Factor is an immersive audiovisual experience and a sound sculpture. The work is a result of contemplation on the notions of digital imagination, natural and artificial dichotomy, and what collaboration with the machine means for the artist.
In creating this work lies a unique soundtrack composed by the artist and a hand-sculpted virtual world of artificial floral forms. The blooms float in their computed universe, reflecting the artist's thoughts on digital materiality's relationship to the physical world. As a result, the flowers are made up of synthetic mirror-like surfaces that reflect their infinite copies and the manufactured world around them. Their cyber-membranes expose AI-generated textures that the artist imagines as the virtual matter making up the simulated universe.
The name Form Factor draws on the mathematical definition of form and suggests the questioning of how sculptural objects exist in the digital.
