every day I learn something new or remember forgotten things. I experiment and repeat the plot, but the images turn out different every time. I explore, observe and try to fix the relationship of light and shadow. The passers-by I meet involuntarily pose for me, I capture the surroundings and everything that crosses my path. I do it secretly and silently, and this event remains only between me – the outside world – and the photographic card – the inner world. I capture a moment of astonishment, I collect moments of silence, I find stardust and black holes in my images.
I am an artist, and my medium is photography. I create self-portraits, endless depictions of the vast inner being, contemplating the ineffable through elegant black and white photographs.
The images, crafted in the genre of photo-portraiture, express the poetry of self-discovery. I have been photographing myself since 2017 – these stories were born within me, seeking my shadows and light. Inspired by the painterly art of photography, I strive to amalgamate my myriad faces and explore how a simple selfie transforms into art. Why do I choose a few from the multitude – common ones – historically intriguing – akin to cultural codes – akin to what I have witnessed in the tapestry of elegant arts from all eras and cultures?
My art is autobiographical; it shapes a visual narrative of the liberated subconscious and the restrained consciousness. Self-sufficiency and subversion are in an eternal dance with my identity, free from self-deception and imposed meanings and interpretations. Self-love has become my mantra as I delve into my inner essence and the imprints left upon me by the world. Each image serves as a guide, a marker for future transformations and unwavering work.
In my quest for self-discovery, I have defined the essence of my art and the future dialogue with myself and the world. Authenticity prevails. Trust, self-awareness, and confrontation with oneself lie at the core of my work.
Who does my art serve? The strong, the lost, the wounded, the alive, the survivors, the poor and the rich, the kind and the unkind, for women and men, and for all who consider themselves diverse, bold, and oppressed. Here, in this art, our fleeting thoughts converge into a unified whole, both at a personal and collective level. The being that once feared itself now embraces the contradictions of the external world, opening a new perspective for contemplation – creation. With this idea, I navigate the ever-changing future.
– I am a recluse – a mage – an observer – and the observed – I am – I have been – I will be.
