Floppy K by Scien and Mrs Klor
Resolution 6 K will be available soon on canvas hand painted on 123klan.com called Floppy K, because in the underground culture of graffiti writing, the Bubble lettering style is a French "Flop", throw-up in English.
This artwork is an evolution of our MASH UP mixes, in which we group our three favorite areas:
- graffiti writing
- graphic design -character design, I will even add the impact of the Colors by opposition.
Indeed, the association of Colors as we practice it gives a different strength to each of them. The photo does not necessarily do justice to the real Colors, but the background of the painting is a slightly mauve white, which makes the pink almost phosphorescent. Thus these soft Colors are endowed with the force of attraction and well being.
The challenge for us is not to caricature our own culture, and to remain free to mix our universes to develop a new style.
We make it a point of honour to use only our own creations, and not to use the work of others. Pop art sometimes has a good back to justify theft. Everything is always drawn by hand by ourselves, and we make it our mission to develop our own style, since 92 our motto is "style is the message". Which for us means that it is up to each one to develop his own style, his uniqueness which is his strength. All the elements in this canvas are their own creation, everything is hand sketching first, each detail, logo, typo or character.
Perfect balance, mix of their own creation and universe of predilection, Scien and Klor manage to sublimate their love for graffiti lettering by mixing it with graphic design. The letter becomes the center of their production, the main subject, and the graphic elements come to emphasize it, it becomes a logo in a balanced layout.
123klan refuses to deny graffiti and to obey the law of the art market: "beyond graffiti" bullshit!
Graffiti is a major art of this century, a complete art that impacts the whole world.
It is a fact. Whether we like it, or we hate it, this movement exists, and like all movements it has its real talents. Nobody can improvise himself as a graffiti writer, the apprenticeship and mastery of this art based on the architecture of the letter takes years of work on one's own style.
