When I look up, I don’t always see the same clouds, or the same sunset hues; it’s always different. It’s always changing. There are days the sun hides, and days it shines, boasting its golden rays. There are days that it makes room for rain, for the earth to receive its showers. It’s at times glorious, and at times the rage is evident. But I find myself looking up still as if to keep reminding myself that I can see these differences, I can feel these changes. Looking up allows me to see a present reality, that there exists in me a longing to commune and connect-- a constant awareness of living in the here and now.
I’d like to keep reminding myself that I am a living, breathing, feeling human being- fully alive and having a desire to be fully present.
“Hold fast to this one noble thing”, so I’ve read. It could be anything you deem worthy of giving your life’s focus on: purpose, passion, life and living, freedom, forgiveness, kindness, generosity, love—what you consider to be noble and worth giving your presence to- hold fast to it.
Hold fast to it with courage and hope, living each day of your life not as if it were your last, but live it as if it were your first.
This piece is a recent reflection I have had on how a shift in perspective could radically change the way we intentionally live out our purposes in this life. The various captured images are of the sky and clouds with some sceneries on display, on different days and in different locations. These images have reminded me of living life like it's always Day 1.
