I wasn’t planning to mint this year for objkt4objkt but this image grabbed me by the collar and said shoot me! An afternoon waiting for a cab on Landsdowne Road led me this old building revealing a Khorkhori story. These iconic louvred wooden windows are characteristic of colonial and traditional architecture in Kolkata (Calcutta) and other parts of Bengal.
The slats are open revealing a memory of activity behind. Then they are closed, and rotting away. Then come these strange faux slats, likely forged with cement, rusted reinforcement bars revealed underneath.
I felt it spoke to the current state of the ecosystem. No more, no less.
Happy 5th anniversary to all.
