Exploding Girl #1

Part of a series of audio-visual collages - imaginations of feminine identity, beauty, strength and vulnerability, viewed through a reflective lens of 20thC Western female iconography. Dislocated in serene isolation, girls float in digital voids, buffeted by electronic debris, forever suspended in their soundscapes.

This piece represents the conflicting currents women encounter in their journey through life, navigating career, motherhood, identity, fear for the future, aging ... finding personal space and fulfilment in an increasingly volatile, damaged and frantic world.

An ongoing fascination with bringing still imagery to life through subtle 2D animation techniques and multi-layered FX (refined over years of live image mixing), combined with slow steps towards new technologies. Original digital paintings and portraiture fused with AI inspirations and digital collage. Distanced from the prosaic via a series of processes and creative interventions: submerging the viewer in dreamlike fragments of consciousness.
