Evolving Layers #3

Similar to 'Evolving Layers #2, this artwork is related to an ongoing 'series' I've put much thought into. The layers, are the horizontal forms, [like layers of Earth],each with varied patterns to solid colours. The across bands alternate, thus, give unity with variety. It's more abstract. As with my # 2 artwork, this was spontaneous also, to add a figurative component into the abstract, a bit whimsical, with applying primitive icons, being particular images, not overdone, as somewhat identifiable. I feel viewers may have slight similar or other interpretations of these in the scheme of whole work of art, maybe seeing something symbolic. I was influenced by the ancient pictographs and petroglyphs, being carved or/and painted on rock by primitive humans, from many cultures. I believe many were painted/carved onto rock, opposed to removing the stone, by spiritual leaders or shamans to bring to life out of the inner world, spirits into their realm for many purposes, as to help in healing processes. It's playful in this artwork, taming perhaps, some parts of my serious influences that began in my planning process. It's also pushing the limits of the art I produce, to go beyond the safe zone. The horizontals vary with flat colours, different patterns, rough edges, provide diversity in the whole composition.
