This piece is inspired by "Scultura spaziale". This abstract sculptural work by Lucio Fontana marked the beginning of the artist's exploration of spatial matter. The forms of matter are arranged around a central hole that opens dynamically into the surrounding space.
Based on the volumes of the matter, the concept of spatiality and the minimalism of the colors, this digital sculpture is created that seeks to reflect Fontana's own morphology and textures, turning them on this occasion into a digital space-time. A time that is not only filled visually, but also sonically. There are spaces that seem several and flat, but in reality keep a cosmos of information from beyond.
An piece created for /Spatial (“slash-spatial”) - the exhibition considering the emergence of Spatial Computing, through the reinterpretation of seminal works by art’s original Spatialist, Lucio Fontana (1899 – 1968). /Spatial was commissioned for objkt.one and had an augmented reality show at Tech Contemporary, Copenhagen, with simultaneous shows in the Decentraland and OnCyber virtual worlds. 25th April - 1st May 2024.
/Spatial was curated by Bay Backner and Damir First, and commissioned by Kika Nicolela
