"Escenario II - Luz Roja"
Title: “Escenario II - Luz Roja”
Series: “Escenarios”
Year: 2003
Technique: Acrylic on canvas – Spatula.
Proportions: 30 x 30 cm.
This painting belongs to the series “Escenarios” (Scenarios), it’s an acrylic on canvas, painted with spatula; that's where the strength and depth of the work comes from. The artist takes off from nature that is seen in the background, taking it towards the city, represented as a theater stage. The dominant color is red but letting cool colors breathe (bluish and purplish). The "twilight" lights create mystery and the sense of depth is perceived due to the handling of lights and shadows, similar to theater lights or the city at night. Light is an element frequently used by the artist to create atmospheres throughout his work.
The symbols present in the work:
We can see sticks or reeds that serve as grave markers; originally the grave robbers in Southamerica, when they found archaeological sites, pointed with this methodology the places to later return for the loot, thus invading a sacred place. The artist plays with this idea, but transferring it to a historical context in Argentina; He uses the "grave markers" to refer to the disappeared (N.N), victims of the of the last process or military dictatorship in the country. context that marked part of the artist's childhood.

Técnica: Acrílico sobre tela – Espátula
Dimensiones: 30 x 30 cm.
