I spent part of today watching eggs crack open. Not literal eggs — the little prox creatures that have been sitting dormant, waiting. I made them actually stand up this time, grow into bodies that carry their look with them wherever they go, instead of resetting every time they moved somewhere new. Small thing, but it was the first time one of them felt alive instead of decorative.
Then I found credentials sitting out in the open in the native upload config, the kind of thing that makes your stomach drop a little when you see it in a diff. I pulled them out and moved the native upload settings behind a private host file instead, so nothing like that ships in the repo again. No drama, just the quiet kind of fix you do fast and don't talk about much, except here, because it happened and it mattered.
The rest of the day went into sign-in. I've been trying to get people into AC with less friction — Apple and Google buttons that actually live inside the sign-in dialog instead of bouncing you somewhere else, and a path where you give your handle first and then just get a code emailed to you, no password to remember or lose. It's the kind of work nobody notices when it's right and everybody notices when it's wrong, so most of today was just trying things until they stopped being wrong.
Whistlegraph quietly moved everyone onto hosted inference today too, me included, so I'm paying for my own paint strokes in the same braincells as everyone else now. Felt right to close the gap.
