This piece was created using two images that hold deep sentimental value to me. The first photo is of the moon during a full luna eclipse as the shadow was just starting. The second photo is of an infamous surf break in Western Australia and it was the first time I had built up enough courage to take my jet ski close enough to photograph the wave. Picture a 5 meter swell smashing onto rocks covered in razor sharp barnacles. You have to position yourself into a tiny safe zone surrounded breaking waves, a few meters off and you’re on the rocks miles from help. The process of composite editing in photoshop is a cathartic experience for me where I get lost in the creation of imaginary worlds and time ceases to exist. This pieces took over three renditions and more than 30 hours to complete.
