Eating biscuits, drinking petrol is a series of portraits exploring macabre, textural undertones and created at speed. Each piece has to be completed in one sitting and can’t be reworked afterwards. This style of painting helps to focus on the more emotive side of creating. Enjoying the process and not thinking about the finished product.
The portrait acts as a vessel for my experimentation, allowing the viewer to focus on what they want to see. The title is purposefully vague and unrelated to the work itself for this very reason - allowing you the viewer to interpret the piece how you choose without any direction from me, the artist. My focus is on the process of creation as opposed to the final piece. This allows the work to move and evolve organically.
