“Parted matter (originating from all given materials) moves freely, floating through the medium of air, in which the straying particles become media for invisible flows, to render air currents or waves of sounds. Dust’s quality to stay airy and ambivalent (in the atmosphere) was a subject of the natural sciences during the time of the enlightenment (most impressively developed by the 19th century physician of light and Hygiene John Tyndall). Since dust levitates within its own rules, it processes a singular problem to current technological apparatuses (e.g. as concerns cleanliness and filtration) as a self-organizing system.” – Bettina Vismann
