Desert Sunset on Pointe

In true Sisters Grimm style of pure, honest collaboration uniting cultures and artistic disciplines, for the first time ever we have brought Ballet into an NFT. The ballerina is Pietra Mello-Pittman, former Royal Ballet dancer and my partner in crime, co-founder of Sisters Grimm.

The Sands are as old as time itself. The sands here in the UAE have clear different characters across the Emirates and the relationship between the sun and the sand has always been important. We wanted to celebrate this by bringing together a set of physical paintings I have done in the desert across the UAE with Pietra dancing within the landscape, embodying the sand representing movement and a timelessness, accompanied by a bespoke score I wrote with my Arab collaborator DB Gad.

The natural beauty of the UAE, which is perhaps less known, is in my opinion what adds the magic and really is the UAE’s backbone, beautifully juxtaposing the modernity achieved for the region. It’s what has informed the past and present and will continue to inform the future. In a world of fast paced technological advancements, nature connects us all be it looking up at the stars, the sea, or our interaction with animals. It’s our relationship to nature and to each other that grounds us.
