Desert Stardust

The tranquil bliss of stargazing in the desert. This image was taken under a crystal clear sky in Joshua Tree National Park. This panoramic image shows the Milky Way band in a 180-degree field of view. You can see hints of green radiating from the horizon which is called Airglow. This faint emission of light is not visible to the naked eye, although it is quite noticeable in long exposure night sky photography.
