Defiguration

A midden is the accumulated refuse of a community, compressed over generations into a single site.

This piece began as a dip-pen drawing made with a maru mapping nib. The drawing was digitized, hand-painted across five chromatic variations, and animated with eighty puppet pins to produce its slow organic motion, while the radiant background is generated through a p5.js sketch.
