A drawing from memory, trying to capture Deborah, my neighbor, who was like an elder sister to me. The colors of the rainbow remind me of her. She's the first queer person I knew, and I recall how she came out to her parents without minding how her parents and uncles would react to her sexuality. I tried capturing her face with this piece, how she stared at her people that day in 2006 as they roared against her sexuality. I didn't understand much then, but the memory is burnt in my mind.
