"Daniel Martin's latest art series captures the essence of our digitally-woven reality, mirroring the pioneering spirit of the Impressionists in a contemporary, digital context. Much like the Impressionists sought to depict their 'modern times' with sketch-like impressions of their surroundings, Martin harnesses the possibilities of 3D technology to create a dynamic portrait of his own environment in the digital age. Using 3D scanning, Martin captures the people and objects that populate his world, repurposing these elements into digital wireframes that serve as his palette. These wireframes, reminiscent of blobs of paint, become the building blocks of his compositions, forming a digital tableau that reflects the increasingly blended nature of our physical and digital realities.
""Me as Mister Monnaie"" stands as Martin’s tribute to Alotta Money and his seminal work ""Mister Monnaie"". While appropriating much of the composition employed by Alotta, Martin crafts a vibrant, animated portrait with himself in the starring role. Further, the original objects are supplanted by items taken from Martin’s immediate surroundings, often directly from his artist's studio, giving his work a distinctive and personal touch."
