Many years ago, the world began to experience severe climatic changes that made much of the land inhospitable. Governments around the globe came together to build livable cities, where people could live in safety and comfort. These cities were like oases in the middle of the desert, with advanced technology and life support systems that got people safe from the dangerous conditions outside.
Over time, these cities closed into huge metropolises filled with skyscrapers and high-quality services. People lived in air-conditioned buildings and had access to electricity and running water 24 hours a day. However, for many, this life of luxury came at a price: most people could not leave the cities without suffering serious consequences.
Meanwhile, in the desert, life was hard. People have to constantly battle heat and drought to survive. Many lived in small communities struggling to stabilize a fleet. Sometimes city dwellers sent supplies to these communities to help them survive, but there was also conflict between the two groups. Some city dwellers saw the deserters as a nuisance and wanted to drive them out of their territories, while others were touched by their suffering and wanted to help them in any way possible.
