Cyber-Òrìṣà is a digital artwork created by Ras Junior that explores the intersection between ancestral spirituality, Afrofuturism, and decentralized technologies. Exhibited at Tokenation 2025 in São Paulo, the piece offers a symbolic and immersive visual journey through the mythologies of the African diaspora reimagined in the digital age.
At the center of the composition, a blue-skinned avatar emerges as a cosmic entity, with fully white eyes, embodying a divine presence. Crowned with textured afro hair and wrapped in organic accessories, this spiritual figure floats in a vibrant environment where tropical flora, sacred symbols, and cybernetic elements intertwine in dynamic harmony.
The artwork evokes the presence of the Òrìṣàs, deities from the Yoruba tradition celebrated in Afro-Brazilian religions such as Candomblé and Umbanda. Here, however, the Òrìṣà is reimagined as a digital guardian—a being that channels ancestral energy through pixels, code, and an immersive visual language.
Cyber-Òrìṣà serves as a metaphor for the fusion of the sacred with the technological. It reflects how Afro-diasporic systems of knowledge can be preserved, transformed, and transmitted through blockchains, augmented realities, and virtual worlds. Through a layered aesthetic with strong spiritual resonance, Ras Junior invites the audience to reflect on identity, memory, and the power of mythology in shaping the future.
More than just an artwork, Cyber-Òrìṣà is a ritual in motion—a portal where ancestral wisdom meets digital imagination, creating new pathways for resistance, healing, and collective transformation.
