Back in 2015, cxy.eth and I built a music player on top of SoundCloud. Our goal was to create a lean-forward listening experience that connected fans more directly to artists by integrating artists’ social media activity into the listening UI. We explored a number of other UI ideas as well — one of them was notifying a user when someone listened to a track they had shared.
