Cronus Rising (2014)

My first planets were created using simple textured spheres. As 3D technology (and my skill) improved I was able to create multi-layered planets with atmosphere glow and 2D cloud textures.

By 2010 VUE had introduced a mode which allowed me to create a "spherical world" using its amazing atmospherics system. I used that mode to attempt to create a gas giant planet I called "Cronus" (after the father of the titans) and some others. As is often the case, I rendered those planets and then used them as a backdrop for another 3D scene (with water of course).

This is one of my most popular planetscapes.
