Conviction

Monika Ertl, daughter of a N*zi that fled to South America after the war, fell in love with a guerrillero.

He was hunted down and killed. She wrote a farewell letter to him „Christ with a gun, crucified by bullets“

The man responsible was promoted to consul in Hamburg, Germany. A few months later he was shot dead by a German looking visitor.

Back home, Monika, the „avenger of Ché Guevara“, was found, tortured and killed.

The traitor? An old friend of the family, secretly working for the CIA. Klaus Barbie, the butcher of Lyon.

Back to the crime scene:

I always thought this to be an incredibly powerful picture. It captivated me for years.

From it, I crafted a totem. A testament of strength.

In honor of all the women who struggle.

And who nevertheless push through with unwavering courage and conviction, no matter the personal cost.
