Continuum

Expanding on SamJ’s earliest experimentations from their BFA, Continuum is an experimentation of digital media in relation to physical space. With an intention of developing the relationship of their work beyond a screen, this installation is designed to create an experience that alludes to new ways digital art can be understood as a medium. As SamJ’s creative process developed as a student working with digital media, one of the only limitations to their creativity was the physical spaces in which to display their works. With an emphasis on creating entire experiences with their art, yet nowhere to create these ideas, they expanded into VR. VR has enabled a new limitless arena to create installations that can showcase 10 meter tall sculptures in the humble apartment of an art student. With the opportunity to work in such a unique physical space, this installation has been conceived to embrace the space not easily accessible to artists.
