Waiting for a connection puts you in a suspended state. The pilot announced where you landed, but the body isn’t really ready to be anywhere. Cabin pressure, dry air, industrialized food. It’s unnatural. Every airport looks and sounds the same. The dead tone of the announcements. The bright empty corridors between arrivals. Rows of unremarkable shops. Interchangeable spaces. Transitional. Liminal. Everyone’s waiting to get in their flight and wondering the same thing. No one is really there.
This work continues an investigation into presence also explored in "To Be Somewhere" (Losing Bid, 2024).
Footage recorded in airports I travelled through between 2024 and 2025. Shot mainly on a cellphone and a DSLR camera.
