Congress is in Session

We, the elected officials of the United States Government hold these truths to be self-evident. Divisiveness and partisanship will be our tools and corruption will be our guide. We will clothe ourselves in the decorations of virtue while we exchange from the national treasury in pursuit of personal power. We will use brinkmanship and hyperbole to distract from our failures and motivate our partisans. We will shield ourselves from morality through procedural contrivances. We will base our financial systems on increasingly ephemeral concepts and manipulate our currency to prop up the Wall Street investor class. We will, at every opportunity, mortgage the future for a more comfortable present. We will pour the blood of our noble youth onto the sands of foreign lands where we will strangle the ideologies of foreign peoples under the guise of protection and freedom.
