The piece "Conflicting Identities" is a collaboration between Toni Traglia and Dorthe's Joy of Creation. Based on our collaborative approach and an idea proposed by Toni, we envisioned a creative scenario where a vortex pulls in various identities that are unable to comprehend each other. This is similar to the current situation in the world where a cycle of misunderstandings is eroding humanity itself. When considering the theme of "Identity," we envisioned a fusion of our artistic identities to create a work of art that would reflect and satisfy both of us. We believe that the fate of the world depends on how we interact with our identities. When we embrace our differences and learn to work together, we can create a more peaceful and prosperous world. However, if we allow our identities to divide us, we will precipitate our own destruction. The different identities in harmony of a rainbow fall into darkness when colors can no longer coexist in harmony. Dorthe's work is characterized by its swirling, spiraling forms, which are often reminiscent of the vortex. With her technique she produces abstract works with engaging and emotional content. Her contribution served as the foundation that was further developed to make the clash of identities more representative. Dorthe is skilled at creating spiral movements. Her works are typically very abstract, and in this case, she has successfully interpreted a dramatic vortex that sinks into the darkness of the abyss. Toni's more figurative contribution has the potential to depict the meaning of our concept. He brings elements that can represent our humanity lost in the vortex of misunderstandings, dragging the fate of the Earth with it. His style interprets his photographic shots pictorially, and knows how to artistically transform images. In this case, he uses his technique to represent the drama of colliding identities by adapting the foundation created by Dorthe. For this work of art, Toni used an image of the Earth and interpreted one of his shots of an old woman falling into the abyss along with the Earth. In this way, she becomes a witness to this drama, like a mother watching her son fall into the spiral of despair.
