๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ A personal set of guidelines I keep in the NFT space.
Never mint on a PoW blockchain. My work deals with ecological collapse. If there werenโt alternatives to the mainstream PoW chains, I wouldnโt even consider being part of the space.
Never burn โleftoversโ of an edition. Iโm taking responsibility for my work and my choices. I wouldnโt burn my work in real life either, so why would I treat my digital works like throw-away pieces?
Donโt do 1/1s. One of the particularities of digital files is their limitless copy-ability. The whole idea of limited editions is in itself debatable, but within the context of my work 1/1s just seem outrageous to me. Larger editions allow for a sense of shared ownership โ a โcommunityโ, if you will, of collectors โ and keep the works affordable.
Put as much relevant information in the descriptions as possible. The contracts alone should be able to link the NFT to the rest of my body of work, since every piece is part of the intricate network my body of work is expanding in to.
Donโt connect physical works to an NFT. The beauty of the NFT is that it provides a space for works that are at home in the digital realm. If you want a physical work, you can buy it the traditional way.
This set of rules was published on my Twitter account in November 2021. It is not meant as a critique, nor as a dogma for others to follow. It helps me navigate the space with integrity towards my own artistic practice.
