Tania Rivilis & Yulia Bas Collaborative NFT project Love & Darkness
Both artists express themselves in a medium of portraiture using their strong academic oil technique as an instrument of experimentation. The themes of explorations and language they use varied from each other. Yet this collaborative project made it possible to observe how intricately intertwined these topics could be, which makes this artwork a beautiful statement of duality.
The conscious choice of Tania’s characters is love in its multiple forms and manifestations. It is important for her to express technically easy ephemerality, freedom, the possibility of partial dissolution in each other. In her expressive style of writing, Tania use gradients, connections, voids and tense colour fields.
Yulia’s portraits reflect transformation, evolution and the beauty of imperfection. In each painting, empty spaces become eloquent, as faces remain unfinished and details are obscured. Yulia's brush strokes and blanks pose questions on identity, change and self-doubt.
In the dance of light and obscurity, bright color and muted darkness of this work we can see the core characteristic of nature – constant change, seasons, breathing and renewal.
