coldwalking
i took a cold walk through suburbia through the freezing streets of this ordinary town my mind was weaving prayers into a blanket to warm you as you lay upon the ground
you used to have secrets worth telling when your days began and ended in my arms but now you just talk about the weather how you’re dreading the onslaught of the storm
you want things to be easy, don’t you and its hard to tell just why they never go like you plan we all want things to be easy but when they work out hard we can never understand
when it breaks you will be hiding playing russian roulette in a bar but instead of a gun you will have sapphires and instead of bullets you’ll have flowers
but i swear to god we all have roses buried in a not so distant field i will take you on the path beyond the churchyard open your eyes in the sun and i’ll let you see
that you want things to be easy, don’t you and its hard to tell just why they never go like you plan we all want things to be easy but when they work out hard we can never understand
i’m drifting in darkness toward something like the tide’s great longing for the moon a desire so deep it could destroy me a desire intended for you
if only i could make you feel it then maybe i could hold you for a while and we could just talk about the weather and the tempest would vanish from your eyes
