"You should have seen it before when the land was cleared." The old man said as he pulled up beside me on the dirt road where the church stood. I liked it this way though, hidden from the busy road off the path. It was quite. Although close to the bustle of a small town off a busy county route, it felt distant. I didn't start taking photos immediately. I just sat there for an hour and gazed. I didn't have a religious upbringing, but could feel something here, maybe planted long ago in this little church. A place some most likely felt safe and less alone. Places such as this are harder to find as time moves. Hopefully we'll all find our home, our safe haven, the place we feel free.
