A three-hour drive for a sunset was foiled by heavy clouds and pouring rain. Disappointed, I slept in my car in the hopes that conditions would improve. Overnight, cold temperatures inverted the atmosphere and pressed the clouds down into the valley below, and I woke to find myself parked above a sea of roiling mist. Shortly after this the clouds lifted and I was submerged in a sea of freezing grey, but the short moment above the clouds will be remembered forever.
